Friends of Haehaeata

HNHT is a charitable trust. We do not seek to make any profit from our plants. We do however, need to cover our costs. The 'Friends' scheme was developed to significantly cover the wages of our two part-time staff. These positions (Nursery Manager and Admin/Project Coordinator) are integral to the success of the trust.

This, in turn, means that the Trust and the nursery can provide eco sourced plants at no cost to community groups embarking on environmental restoration projects in our Central Otago area and extending the opportunities that we can support.

The nursery manager oversees the Clyde Railhead Community Eco Nursery. This entails being responsible for growing and maintaining the nursery stock including seed collection, propagation, plant care and distribution and managing volunteers.

The admin/planting projects manager keeps the administration of the Trust under control and crucially liaises with the community to secure and plan projects using our plants, providing education opportunities and promoting locally native habitat restoration.

Our funding to date has come piecemeal from various grants and with the generosity and support of the following local businesses, our 'Friends'  our operational and financial sustainability is greatly assisted.

Thank you for supporting us in the work we do.
